Victim Identified in Chamberlayne Avenue Homicide

The Richmond Police Department has identified the victim in the homicide which occurred this morning on Chamberlayne Avenue and is asking for the public’s help as they investigate.

Shortly after 8 a.m. this morning, police were called to the 4200 block of Chamberlayne Avenue for report of a person shot. When police arrived, they found Jerode R. Greene, 24, last known address in the 200 block of Winston St., Henrico, suffering from a gunshot wound.


Greene was transported to a local hospital where at 8:46 a.m., he was pronounced dead. A medical examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
Detectives with the Major Crimes Division are investigating the incident as a homicide and continue to gather additional information.

“It is believed there were multiple witnesses in the area at the time, including those who were traveling to work or school,” said Det. Victoria Griffith-Matko. “We urge anyone who has any information to come forward. Any tip can help us make an arrest and take these individuals off the street.”
