Police Department has identified the person found fatally shot this morning in
the city’s north side as Charles J. Lewis, III, 53, of the 2800 block of
Matterhorn Drive, Henrico.At approximately 7:03 a.m., RPD officers and other emergency personnel were called to assist with what was believed to be an adult, black male with a medical emergency sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle stopped in an alley behind the 2400 block of Barton Avenue. While attempting to resuscitate Lewis, it was discovered he had been shot. A short time later, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
