Community Walk in the Fulton Neighborhood

WHAT:                       Richmond Police Department Community Walk


WHEN:                      5:30 p.m. Today, September 5, 2017

WHERE:                    1500 block of Vinton Street

BACKGROUND:     Chief Alfred Durham, First Precinct Sector 111 Lt. Johnny McRoy
and other Richmond Police Department officers will participate in a walk through Richmond’s Fulton neighborhood at 5:30 p.m. today. During the walk, RPD officers will speak with community members about safety concerns they may have and what they would like to see from the Richmond Police Department.


Sector 111 Lt. Johnny McRoy
said the Fulton neighborhood has seen an 11 percent reduction in violent crime. There has been a reduction in every category with the exception of one.


“Property crime has seen an 8 percent increase,” said Lt. McRoy. “Shoplifting, theft from motor vehicle, and all other larcenies are driving the increases.”


This event is the latest in a series of walks conducted by the Richmond Police Department in neighborhoods throughout the city.
