Missing Woman & Vehicle Sought in Death Investigation

The Richmond Police Department is asking for the public’s help to locate a woman who may be connected to a death investigation currently being conducted on the city’s south side. RPD detectives believe she may be in danger.

Shatema Smith has not been seen by her family or friends since the evening of Saturday, September 16, 2017. RPD detectives believe she may have information about the circumstances surrounding the death of a friend of hers, Montez Matthews, 33, whose body was found early this afternoon inside his home in the 3300 block of Frank Road.

The missing woman, Smith, is described as a black female, 37 years of age, 5’ 9” tall, 133 pounds (or heavier), with multiple tattoos (one of them says “TEMA”) on her right arm and left leg.

Also missing is a vehicle used by the victim, Matthews. It is described as a 2007 silver or grey Mercedes Benz four-door sedan with VA license plates VXW-7678.
