The Richmond Police Department has identified the pedestrian who was struck and killed yesterday on Azalea Avenue as Tara L. Anderson, 33, of no known address.
At approximately 2:59 p.m., a vehicle was at a stop sign on
Seminary Avenue at the intersection of Azalea Avenue. The vehicle entered the
intersection making a left turn eastbound onto Azalea Avenue. Anderson was
crossing the street, not at a crosswalk, and was struck in the left travel lane
on Azalea Avenue. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle had remained at the scene.
The RPD Crash Team responded to the scene where they took
measurements and interviewed the driver. No charges have been filed, however, a
final decision on charges will be made in consultation with the Commonwealth’s
Attorney’s Office.
