The Richmond Police Department Crash Team is investigating a traffic
fatality that occurred this morning on the city’s south side.
At approximately 11:30 a.m., RPD officers were called to the 5200
block of Hull Street for a report of a collision between an SUV-style
vehicle and a motorcycle. When they arrived, they quickly located the body of
the motorcyclist, an adult male, identified as Wayne Antonio Walters, Jr. of
the 1800 block of Joplin Street, lying in the westbound lanes of the
roadway. He was pronounced at the scene.
The female driver of the SUV, who had remained at the scene, was uninjured. She was the only occupant of the vehicle.
RPD Crash Team investigators have determined that the driver of the SUV was heading eastbound on Hull Street when she attempted to make a left turn across the westbound lanes when the motorcyclist, who was traveling west, collided with the SUV.
The identity of the driver will not be released unless charges are filed.
