The
Richmond Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred last night
in the East End.
At
approximately 10:45 p.m., officers responding to a call of random gunfire were
driving in the area of Accommodation and Coalter streets when they were flagged
down by a person driving a vehicle who was attempting to transport the male
victim of the shooting to the hospital.
Officers
called for an ambulance and the victim was transported to a local hospital
where early this morning he succumbed to his injuries.
The
Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
Detectives
believe the shooting occurred behind a building in the 1900 block of Redd
Street.
