The victim who was shot on Hopkins Road two weeks ago succumbed to his injury late last week and has been identified by Richmond Police detectives as Marquez McRae, 30, of Richmond.
At approximately 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 31, officers were called to a local hospital. McRae, who was suffering from a gunshot wound, had been transported to that hospital in a private vehicle. His injuries were considered life threatening. Detectives have been investigating this shooting and have now re-classified the incident as a homicide.
The Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death.
