BACKGROUND:    In collaboration with the Metro Richmond YMCA’s Bright Beginnings program, “Shop with a Cop” pairs Richmond city youth with a Richmond Police officer in preparation for the upcoming school year.

“The YMCA and Target have been long standing community partners over the years,” said Capt. Daniel Minton. “We are able to engage with children and share a memorable experience.”

Along with helping a child prepare for the upcoming school year, the annual event continues building the foundation of community trust and the youth.

Bright Beginnings is the largest outreach program, servicing over 2,000 children in Central Virginia.
