Person Who Fired on RPD Officer Identified

The Richmond Police Department has identified the person who fired on RPD Officer Travis Dooley yesterday following a pursuit that ended on 4th Avenue.

He is James E. Williams, Jr. 18, of the 1100 block of Sumpter Street.

Williams is currently in the custody of the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office, charged with murder.


RPD detectives will charge Williams at a later date.

Officer Dooley remains on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of a use-of-force investigation.
