Victim Identified and Arrests Made in Powhite Parkway Homicide

The Richmond Police Department has identified the victim in Monday morning’s homicide on the Powhite Parkway as Luis G. Gomez-Flores 35, of the 2100 block of County Drive, Petersburg.

At approximately 2:16 a.m., Monday, officers received a call for a fight in progress in the 6300 block of Powhite Parkway just before Chippenham Parkway.
When police arrived, they located a vehicle parked in a parking lot adjacent to the toll booth and discovered Gomez-Flores lying outside the vehicle unconscious. He was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. It was determined an altercation broke out inside the vehicle causing the driver to pull over.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
Rodrigo Martinez-Mendoza, 41, of the 1600 block of Lincoln Avenue, Petersburg and Javier Rodriguez-Zavala, 22, of the 6800 block of Jefferson Davis Highway, North Chesterfield have been arrested and charged with malicious wounding. Additional charges are pending. Their booking photos are attached.
