Richmond Police
detectives have made an arrest in connection to a homicide that occurred last
month in the city’s Oak Grove neighborhood.
Lashaunda T.
Meekins, 42, of the 2200 block of Merle Street, Henrico was arrested earlier this week and has
been charged with first-degree murder and use of a firearm in the
commission of a felony. Her booking photo is attached.
At approximately
4:09 p.m., on Thursday, Jan. 18, police received a call regarding a male down
inside a residence in the 1800 block of Gordon Avenue. The caller stated
he was checking on the welfare of the victim. When police arrived, they located
Randy L. Jones, 61, of the 1800 block of Gordon Avenue inside the home
suffering from an apparent gunshot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Medical
Examiner will determine cause and manner of death.
