BACKGROUND: Chief
Alfred Durham, Command Staff and other Richmond Police Department officers
will walk at 5:30 p.m. today through the
Maymont neighborhood. During the walk, officers will speak with community
members about safety concerns they may have and what they would like to see
from the Richmond Police Department.
Sector 313 Lt. Bill Woo said the area
is made up of longtime residents and new families.
“Property crime is a major issue in
this neighborhood,
which includes theft from motor vehicles and breaking and entering," Lt. Woo said.
“This walk is to help connect with the neighborhood and show our commitment to
community safety.”
This event is the latest in a series of walks conducted by
the Richmond Police Department in neighborhoods throughout the city.
Members of the media are encouraged to attend.
