Broad Rock Boulevard Traffic Fatality Investigation

The Richmond Police Department Crash Team is investigating a two vehicle crash on Broad Rock Boulevard last month that has resulted in the death last week of one of the drivers.

Clinton Griffin, Jr., 26, of the 18000 block of Waterford Drive, Sutherland, VA succumbed to crash-related injuries at a local hospital last Friday, November 2, 2018.

The crash occurred at approximately 4:27 p.m., Saturday, October 20, 2018 in the 2700 block of Broad Rock Boulevard.

RPD investigators have determined that Griffin’s vehicle was attempting cross the westbound lanes of Broad Rock Boulevard when it was struck by a vehicle traveling in the eastbound lanes.

Griffin, the lone occupant of his vehicle, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries where he died two weeks later. All five occupants of the striking vehicle were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. They were treated and released.

RPD Crash Team investigators will determine if charges will be brought after consultation with the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.
