Victim Identified in Castlewood Road Homicide

Richmond Police Department detectives have identified the victim of a homicide that occurred last night on the city's south side.
At approximately 8:53 p.m., an off-duty officer heard yelling from the exterior of the Grab-n-Go Convenience Store at the 3800 block of Jefferson Davis Highway. As he exited the store to investigate, he found the victim with an apparent gunshot wound.

The victim, James “Jimmy” T. Bishop, 54, of Goolsby Avenue, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. He later succumbed to his injuries.

Detectives are asking the help of any citizen who was in the area of Castlewood Avenue and Bells Road between 8:30 and 8:50 p.m. last night who may have witnessed a man on a lawnmower or any suspicious activity.
