Arrests Made in Alvis Avenue Homicide

The Richmond Police Department, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshal’s Regional Fugitive Task Force, have made two arrests in connection to last week’s homicide on Alvis Avenue.

Octavis Green, 17, no current address,
was arrested yesterday. Green is charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony (x2), and robbery. Nicholas L. Thomas, 20, of the 4300 block of North Avenue was also arrested yesterday and charged with conspiracy to commit murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Additional charges are pending. Their booking photos are attached.

At approximately 1:58 a.m., on Friday May 11, officers were called to the 3100 block of Alvis Avenue for the report of a person shot. Officers arrived and found Russell J. Long, 22, of the 1300 block of Greenmoss Drive in the roadway suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injury.
