Detectives with the Richmond Police Department have released more information about the victim of this month’s Walmsley Boulevard homicide in hopes of clarifying the identity of the victim to acquaintances and generating more information from the public.
The victim, Elizabeth M. Zeigler, 34, of the 3400 block of
Walmsley Boulevard, was known as “Strawberry” to friends and acquaintances.

At approximately 1:23 p.m., Thursday, May 17, officers were called
to the 4200 block of Walmsley Boulevard for the report of a person shot.
Officers responded and found Zeigler on a sidewalk suffering from an apparent
gunshot wound. She was transported to a local hospital and succumbed to her
injuries later that same day.
The location of the homicide is on a well-traveled stretch of
Walmsley Boulevard and detectives hope anyone in the area at the time, after
viewing the photo, might have information to share. Detectives also hope those
who knew Zeigler as “Strawberry” will now contact detectives with information.
Detectives are seeking a person of interest in this homicide. He
is described as a black male in his early 20’s, tall with a slender build and
tattoos on the front of his neck.
