Victim Identified in Jefferson Davis Corridor Homicide

The Richmond Police Department has identified the female victim of a fatal shooting early this month in the Jefferson Davis Corridor as Geraldine R. Tillery, 61, of the 2300 block of Concord Avenue.

Shortly before 11:15 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, police were called to the 2300 block of Concord Avenue for a report of a person shot. When officers arrived, they found Tillery inside of a residence suffering from gunshot wounds.

Police were told when Tillery answered her door earlier that night, an unknown individual dressed in black shot her. The suspect fled the scene driving westbound on Concord Avenue toward Jefferson Davis Highway.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening gunshot wounds. She succumbed to her injuries yesterday afternoon..

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
