BACKGROUND:
The
young musicians of the Police Athletic League, along with PAL officers and
guest artists, are showing r-e-s-p-e-c-t to Aretha Franklin by highlighting her
music during the PAL Band Spring Recital fundraiser tonight.
This
concert is part of a continuing effort by PAL to connect with the region’s
youth by sponsoring events, sports and functions that encourage the young men
and women of Richmond to excel at whatever they pursue.
“All
the PAL events across the year deliver excitement and joy as young people
collaborate to achieve a success that cannot be accomplished alone,” said
Community, Youth and Intervention Services Captain Michael Bender. “This
concert, however, is definitely a highlight of the year – and by focusing on
the powerful music of Aretha Franklin it’s all the more thrilling.”
Tickets
in support of PAL can be purchased at the door for $7.
Members
of the public and media are encouraged to attend.
