Richmond Police detectives
are asking for the public’s help in identifying three suspects in the murder of
9-year-old Markiya Dickson and the shooting of a young boy over Memorial
Day weekend.
At approximately
7:23 p.m. Sunday, officers were called to Fonticello/Carter Jones Park
in the 2700 block of Bainbridge Street for the report of a shooting.
Officers arrived and found that Markiya Dickson and a juvenile male had
each been shot and were taken to a local hospital in a personal vehicle with
life threatening injuries. Dickson succumbed to her injuries at the
hospital.

Suspect
1: A young black male who was seen with no shirt on and wearing a white towel
or T-shirt on his head. He is believed to have braids that are shoulder length.

2: A young black male with a medium build and short cropped hair. He was seen
wearing blue shirt and grey or dark colored pants.
- · Suspect 3: A young black male wearing dark clothing.
“We believe there are eyewitnesses who have
information on these suspects,” said Major Crimes Lt. Faith Flippo. “We
are asking you to come forward and help us bring closure to these families.
These are young children who are victims of senseless violence.”
