Arrest Made in Clarkson Road Shooting

The Richmond Police Department has made an arrest in connection to a shooting on Clarkson Road that occurred last week.

David L. Clayton, 26, of the 600 block of Holbein Place, has been charged with attempted murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.  His booking photo is attached. 

At approximately 10:37 a.m. on Friday, December 13, officers responded to the 1500 block of Clarkson Road for the report of a person shot.  Once on scene, police found an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  He was taken to a local hospital with a non-life threatening injury. 

Shortly after the shooting, the suspect vehicle was observed by a Second Precinct officer. The vehicle was stopped in the 400 block of Westover Hills Boulevard and Clayton was taken into custody without incident. The suspect was also injured during the incident and treated at a local hospital.

“Excellent police work led to a quick arrest in this violent crime,” said Major Crimes Lieutenant Rick Edwards.
