Suspect Sought in Patterson Avenue Fraud Case

December 26, 2019

Richmond Police detectives need the public’s help to identify the individual in the attached photo, who is suspected of trying to cash a fraudulent check.

On November 21, the male suspect arrived at First Bank, located at 5601 Patterson Avenue, and attempted to deposit a check in the amount of more than $28,000.  The suspect provided paperwork to open a new business account, but differing addresses on the documents made a bank worker suspicious.  The check was then put on hold.

After further investigation, detectives believe the suspect somehow intercepted the original check through the mail and tried to open a local business in order to obtain the funds.  Detectives also believe he may have used a fake ID.

The suspect was last seen wearing a light blue shirt with a black leather jacket and a black leather hat.

Anyone with information about the identity of this suspect is asked to call Third Precinct Detective M. Williams at (804) 646-1007 or contact Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000 or at www.7801000.com. The P3 Tips Crime Stoppers app for smartphones may also be used.  All Crime Stoppers methods are anonymous.
