WHAT: Workshop to Demonstrate New
RMS Pubic Portal Capabilities
WHEN: 6:00 p.m. Thursday, December
19, 2019
WHERE: RPD Training Academy, Room
103, 1202 W. Graham Road
BACKGROUND: The Richmond Police Department has been working
for the past year to implement a new Records Management System – which is designed
to enable a more efficient and effective way of capturing crime data and other
statistics that track departmental activities and protocols.
The public portal feature of the new system
will dramatically increase our transparency and accountability by allowing
anyone access to a wealth of data about the Department,” said Richmond Police
Chief William C. Smith. “While we are still six months away from launching it
on-line, we believe the system has reached a point in its development that now
is the time to get input from the general public to learn what information they
would like to be able to retrieve.”
The RPD will demonstrate a
prototype of the public portal showing a more robust way of displaying data for
public access.
An open-floor session will
be held to solicit feedback.
People who are interested in
such data: community activists,
reporters, academic researchers and others are encouraged to attend the
workshop.
