Arrest Made in Midlothian Turnpike Homicide

Richmond Police detectives, with the assistance of the United States Marshals Regional Task Force, have made an arrest in connection with a homicide on Midlothian Turnpike last week.

Deon Thomas, 19, of the 200 block of West Charity Street, was arrested yesterday by the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force. He has been charged with robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Additional charges are pending.

At approximately 11:03 p.m. on November 30, officers responded to a business in the 3100 block of Midlothian Turnpike for the report of a person shot. Once on scene, police found Ashraf H. Mahasees, who worked at the store, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.
