Monday, September 12, 2022, at approximately 7:27 p.m., officers were called to the 900 block of North 1st Street in the Gilpin Court neighborhood for the report of shots fired. Officers arrived and located a juvenile female down and unresponsive on a sidewalk. She had suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
Forensics Unit personnel arrived and collected evidence at the scene while Major Crime detectives canvassed the area. Detectives are hoping those in the area at the time of the shooting can provide information to assist the investigation.
