The Richmond Police Department Crash Team is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect of a hit and run that occurred Thursday night in the 500 block of East Byrd Street.
At approximately 7:34 p.m., August 4, officers were called to the 500 block of East Byrd Street for the report of a two-vehicle collision. Officers arrived and found an adult male victim who was injured from the crash. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The RPD Crash Team and detectives have determined that the suspect’s vehicle was traveling south on South 5th Street when the driver disregarded a red signal and struck the victim’s vehicle, which was traveling east on East Byrd Street.
The driver of the striking vehicle did not remain at the scene. A camera on the scene captured an image of him running away. Those images are attached.
