Richmond Police Detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in Wednesday night’s shooting that targeted a Richmond Police Officer.
On September 21, at approximately 10:17 p.m., a Richmond Police Officer observed a male driving recklessly on a golf cart in the area of N. 25th Street and Fairmont Avenue. The officer attempted to stop the golf cart in the 1200 block of N 28th Street. The driver fled on foot, turned and fired at least one shot at the officer and then continued to run west on S Street. The bullet hit the officer’s vehicle but not the officer. The officer returned fire but it does not appear that the suspect was struck.
The suspect was described as a light skin black male, wearing a black or dark blue hoodie, dark skinny jeans, average build, and average height, with twists or dreads. He appears to be a juvenile or young adult. He was driving a golf cart that was stolen from the Oliver Crossings Apartments, 1329 Coalter Street, Tuesday, September 20, at approximately 9:14 p.m. There was a small blue scooter in the rear of the cart being driven by the suspect. Detectives are hoping that someone in the community saw this individual and will be able to help identify him. A photo of the golf cart is attached.
