Richmond Police and its Bomb Squad investigated a report of a suspicious package at 13th and Main streets around 10:30 a.m. today.
In the course of that investigation, bags of a similar description also were discovered at 13th and Cary and 12th and Main.
Main Street between 14th and 10th streets and Cary Street between 14th and 12th were closed as the Bomb Squad investigated.
The Bomb Squad first checked the black plastic trash bag at 13th and Main and found it to be discarded refuse left by a cleaning crew. It was determined the bags at the other locations also contained trash.
The investigation did not require the evacuation of any buildings in the area.
Main and Cary were open to traffic again at noon.
