Arrest Made in Illusions Night Club Homicide

Richmond Police detectives have charged a Richmond man in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred early yesterday morning at the Illusions Night Club.

Trevell A. Harvey, 27, of the 2400 block of 3rd Avenue, was arrested this morning in a joint effort by Henrico County Police and the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force. He was taken into custody without incident and charged with use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. A booking photo will be sent when it becomes available.

At approximately 1:00 a.m., shots were fired inside the club located in the 6300 block of Midlothian Turnpike. Several RPD officers, who were working off-duty there, entered the club and discovered the body of Jerquell Cheatham, 21, of the 700 block of Everett Street. He had been shot.

Officers identified two others who were injured; a male with a gunshot wound, and a female who had been struck by a car in the club parking lot. Both persons were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
