The Richmond Police Department has identified the victim of a homicide that occurred early this morning on the city’s south side.
Shortly before 1 a.m., officers responded to the 6500 block
of Midlothian Turnpike for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they located Mark
Jackson-Silver, 19, of the 1300 block of Jennie Scher Road, suffering from
an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital where he later
succumbed to his injuries.
Major Crimes detectives are working all available leads in
this case, and continue to gather additional information as part of the ongoing
investigation.
