BACKGROUND: Mayor Dwight C. Jones and Chief Alfred Durham are proud to announce the grand opening of the Richmond Police Department’s new Canine Training & Community Complex. They invite the public to attend and see this state-of-the-art facility.
The facility is being funded by a grant from the Office of the Attorney General with money obtained in the settlement of a national Medicaid fraud case.
It includes many features such as:

Indoor/outdoor
kennels· Dog exam room
· Training/Community room
· Locker rooms
· Break room
· Administrative offices
· Storage areas
For years, the
Richmond Police Department has hosted K-9 officers from across Virginia and
beyond to provide training opportunities, and the new facility will enhance
that effort.
