Grand Opening for New Canine Training Facility

WHAT:                       Richmond Police Canine Training & Community Complex

WHEN:                      11 a.m., Thursday, January 14, 2016

WHERE:                    814 Forest Lawn Drive – (Behind John Marshall High School)

BACKGROUND:     Mayor Dwight C. Jones and Chief Alfred Durham are proud to announce the grand opening of the Richmond Police Department’s new Canine Training & Community Complex. They invite the public to attend and see this state-of-the-art facility.

The facility is being funded by a grant from the Office of the Attorney General with money obtained in the settlement of a national Medicaid fraud case.

It includes many features such as:
·         Indoor/outdoor kennels
·         Dog exam room
·         Training/Community room
·         Locker rooms
·         Break room
·         Administrative offices
·         Storage areas

For years, the Richmond Police Department has hosted K-9 officers from across Virginia and beyond to provide training opportunities, and the new facility will enhance that effort.
