The Richmond
Police Department is asking for help from the general public as they
investigate several shootings that occurred overnight in the east end of the
city.
At this point,
none of the shootings appear to be related due to the variety of weapons used.
1. At
approximately 7:59 p.m., Thursday, an adult female was shot while standing with
friends in the 1400 block of N. 22nd St. by an unknown black male
riding a BMX-style bicycle who shot into the crowd. She is being treated for
life-threatening injuries. A weapon and cartridge casings were recovered. The
suspect is described as a dark-skinned black male with short-cut hair, wearing
a black shirt, stonewashed jeans, and carrying a backpack. No motive has yet
been established.
2. At
approximately 12:42 a.m., Friday, an adult male was found shot in the 1400
block of Rogers Street. His injuries are considered to be life threatening. A
cartridge casing was recovered. A silver van was seen leaving the area at the
time of the shooting. No suspect information is available at this time. Robbery
may have been the motive in this case.
