Suspect Identified, Sought for Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle

Richmond Police officers have identified a suspect in last week’s incident in which a person shot into an occupied vehicle, causing it to crash. Luckily, there were no injuries.

Carvelle A. Cotman is wanted on charges of shooting at an occupied vehicle, use or display of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and attempt to commit a non-capital offense. His photo is attached.

At approximately 9:29 p.m. on Thursday, August 1, Carvelle Cotman shot into a vehicle in the 2100 block of Accommodation Street. The vehicle had two adult females and three children inside. To escape, the victim’s vehicle turned onto the 1900 block of Redd Street where the vehicle crashed. None of the occupants were struck by gunfire or injured in the crash.
