Fourth Precinct to be Honored with the 2017 Crime Reduction Award

WHAT:                         Richmond Police 2017 Crime Reduction Award Ceremony

WHEN:                        1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018

WHERE:                      Richmond Police, 4th Precinct (2219 Chamberlayne Avenue)

BACKGROUND:         Richmond Chief Administrative Officer Selena Cuffey-Glenn, RPD Chief Alfred Durham and the Richmond Police Department are proud to present the 2017 Crime Reduction Award to the department’s 4th Precinct.

Lead by Capt. William Blackwell, 4th Precinct demonstrated crime reduction in the following areas:

·         Violent Crime: 18 percent reduction
·         Property Crime: 5 percent reduction
·         Overall Crime: 6 percent reduction

"The reduction in crime doesn’t begin to depict the effort of the men and women assigned to 4th Precinct. It is truly an honor to be a part of the team, and I am extremely proud of the effort displayed during the 2017 calendar year,” said Capt. Blackwell. “I would like to take this opportunity to thank my lieutenants, sergeants, officers, civilian personnel and the community members for their dedication and commitment to making our city a safer place."

During the ceremony, Chief Durham will present Capt. Blackwell with the 2017 Crime Reduction Flag which will be raised on the 4th Precinct flag pole.
