Additional Assistance Sought in Illusions Night Club Homicide

A Richmond man has been indicted on multiple charges in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on January 18 at the Illusions Night Club. Richmond Police detectives are now appealing to the public for additional information from the night of the homicide.

Trevell A. Harvey, 27, of the 2400 block of Third Avenue, was arrested January 19 in a joint effort by Henrico County Police and the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force. On January 27, he was indicted by a multi-jurisdictional grand jury and charged with first-degree murder, aggravated assault and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. “There were hundreds of people in the club that night,” said Major Crimes Detective Jamie Baynes. “If anyone who was there saw the shooting or recorded any images from the club, please contact me as any additional pieces of information could assist in the investigation.”

At approximately 1:00 a.m., shots were fired inside the club located in the 6300 block of Midlothian Turnpike. Several RPD officers, who were working off-duty there, entered the club and discovered the body of Jerquell Cheatham, 21, of the 700 block of Everett Street. He had been shot.

Officers identified two others who were injured – a male with a gunshot wound, and a female who had been struck by a car in the club parking lot. Both persons were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
