Suspect Wanted in Chamberlayne Avenue Double Homicide

Richmond Police detectives are asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect in a double homicide that occurred last Saturday on Chamberlayne Avenue.

Dennis Moore, 36, is a 6-foot, 3-inch tall, dark-skinned black male, weighing approximately 175 pounds. He is known to frequent the area of Mosby Court. His known aliases include “Joe” and “Black”.

Moore is believed to be armed and dangerous. Detectives urge citizens to call 911 if they see him, and stress that he should not be approached.

Around 3:05 a.m. on Saturday, February 20, officers were called to an apartment complex in the 2900 block of Chamberlayne Avenue for a report of a man down. In an interior hallway, they found the body of Cory J. Holmes, 40, of the 1300 block of Coalter St. He had been shot multiple times.

Inside a nearby apartment, they found a female, Marquetta Y. Harris, 39, of the 2900 block of Chamberlayne Ave., who had been shot multiple times. She was transported to a local hospital where she later died. They also found a pre-school age child in the apartment who was uninjured.

This incident is not believed to share any direct connection with a homicide that occurred this morning in the 3000 block of Chamberlayne Avenue. Detectives are pursuing all available leads and continue to gather additional information as part of this ongoing investigation.
