Suspect Arrested in Chamberlayne Avenue Double Homicide

A Richmond man wanted in connection with a double homicide that occurred last Saturday on Chamberlayne Avenue has been arrested.

Dennis Moore, 36, of the 1900 block of Accommodation Street, was arrested today and charged with breaking and entering and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Both charges are felonies. He turned himself in this afternoon at Richmond Police Headquarters. His booking photo will be released when it is available.

Around 3:05 a.m. on Saturday, February 20, officers were called to an apartment complex in the 2900 block of Chamberlayne Avenue for a report of a man down. In an interior hallway, they found the body of Cory J. Holmes, 40, of the 1300 block of Coalter St. He had been shot multiple times.

Inside a nearby apartment, they found a female, Marquetta Y. Harris, 39, of the 2900 block of Chamberlayne Ave., who had been shot multiple times. She was transported to a local hospital where she later died. They also found a pre-school age child in the apartment who was uninjured.

This incident is not believed to share any direct connection with a homicide that occurred this morning in the 3000 block of Chamberlayne Avenue.
