Richmond Police detectives are investigating a double homicide that occurred overnight on the city’s north side.
At approximately 3:05 a.m., RPD officers were called to an
apartment complex in the 2900 block of Chamberlayne Avenue for a report of a
man down. In an interior hallway, they found the body of Cory J. Holmes, 40,
of the 1300 block of Coalter St. He had been shot multiple times.
Inside a nearby apartment they found a female, Marquetta
Y. Harris, 39, of the 2900 block of Chamberlayne Ave., who had been shot
multiple times. She was transported to a local hospital where she died late
this morning. They also found a pre-school age child in the apartment who was
uninjured.
