Arrest Made in Gilpin Court Shooting Incident – Weapons Recovered

Richmond Police detectives have arrested a Richmond man following a shooting incident in Gilpin Court.

Luke R. McCutchen, 20, of the 1200 block of St. Peter Street, has been charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute, and Trespassing.

At approximately 2:20 p.m. yesterday, RPD officers were called to the 1000 block of Hickory Street for a report of random gunfire. Acting on tips from the community, RPD detectives arrested McCutchen a short time later and recovered five firearms.

“The recovery of so many weapons is a big step in our on-going effort to deal with gun violence in the city,” said RPD Chief Alfred Durham. “I want to personally thank the people who called in with tips. We can’t do it alone. We need help. We need more tips.”

The detectives recovered three .40 caliber handguns, a 9mm handgun, and a 7.62mm assault weapon.

Detectives are looking into what, if any, links there may be with this shooting incident and some recent gun-related violence in Gilpin Court.
