The Richmond Police Department’s Crash Team investigators
have identified the person killed in a vehicle fatality this morning in the
city’s Bellemeade neighborhood as Davonja L. Clark, 20, of
the 5100 block of Trace Court, Chesterfield.
At approximately 1:39 a.m. this morning, a call was received
for a motor vehicle accident with an injury at the intersection of Minefee
Street and Presson Boulevard. When police arrived, they found a white, 2013
Ford Fusion with front-end damage in a yard within the 1600 block of Drewry
Street. Near the vehicle, was a non-responsive adult male with apparent
injuries laying on the sidewalk. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Upon further investigation, it was found Clark was
driving southbound on Drewry Street when he approached the intersection of
Minefee Street and Presson Boulevard. He lost control of the vehicle and
collided into a telephone pole, tree and a fence and was ejected from the
vehicle. No foul play is suspected.
A medical examiner will determine the cause and manner of
death.
Crash Team investigators responded to the scene, where they
interviewed witnesses and took measurements. The investigation is still
on-going.
