Victim Identified in Farmer’s Market Death Investigation

The Richmond Police Department has identified one of the victims in this morning’s triple shooting as Robert D. Turner Jr., 26, of the 2300 block of Fairfield Avenue.

Shortly before 3 a.m. this morning, police were called to the intersection of North 17th and East Franklin Streets for a report of two persons down. When officers arrived, they located two victims, a male and a female, suffering from non-life threatening gunshot wounds. They were transported to a local hospital.

While units were at the scene, another call was received for a person shot. The third victim, a male, was transported in a personal vehicle to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The victim, identified as Robert Turner, later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death.

“This shooting occurred when many patrons were leaving establishments in the Shockoe Bottom area,” said Capt. James Laino. “If you saw anything or have any information, we need to hear from you.”

Detectives are currently looking into this incident as a death investigation.
