WHAT: Stop the Violence Picnic
WHEN: Sunday, August 26 12 p.m. - 4 p.m.
WHERE: Lucks Field, 1926 T Street
BACKGROUND:
Richmond PAL, along with community leaders are proud to host the annual “Stop
the Violence” picnic on Sunday.
The
event is part of a continuous effort to bridge the gap between the community
and the Richmond Police Department. The event is free and open to the public.
Officers and community
members will be giving away free school supplies to the children to make sure
they are ready for the upcoming school year. There will also be free food and
beverages.
“This is a way to bring
everyone from all the different neighborhoods together,” said Lt. James
Killingsworth. “We want the community to know that we are here for them and we
can put an end to violence if we’re all in this together.”
Members of the media are encouraged to attend.
