Victim Identified in Peyton Avenue Homicide

The Richmond Police Department has identified the person killed in a shooting overnight as Sherece Cook, 21, of the 100 block of Pine Ridge Drive, Louisa, VA.
 At approximately 9:23 p.m., Friday, August 10, RPD officers responded to a call for a person shot in the 3900 block of Peyton Avenue. When the first officer arrived, he located Cook’s body in the driver’s seat of an SUV-style vehicle sitting in the middle of the street. Two children, under the age of three years old, were found unharmed sitting in the back seat of the vehicle.

Cook had been shot.

The medical examiner will determine the exact cause and manner of death.
