Arrest Made in Shooting of 15-year-old on North Kinsley Avenue

Yesterday, October 6, 2022, Richmond Police detectives arrested a 17-year-old male in the shooting investigation of a 15-year-old male that took place on Monday in the 4100 block of North Kinsley Avenue. The suspect was apprehended at George Wythe High School and was in possession of a concealed firearm at the time of his arrest. 

The 17-year-old suspect has been charged with the following pertaining to the shooting that occurred on October 3, 2022:

1. Aggravated malicious wounding;
2. Use of a firearm in a felony, and;
3. Possession of a firearm by a minor.

Charges pertaining to the arrest yesterday, October 6, 2022:

1. Carrying a concealed weapon;
2. Possession of firearm by a minor, and;
3. Possession of a firearm on school property. 

As of today, the victim’s condition has been downgraded to non-life-threatening. 

At approximately 8:30 p.m. on Monday, October 3, Richmond Police officers responded to the 1800 block of Broad Rock Boulevard to investigate a possible shooting. Detectives later determined the crime scene was located in the 4100 block of North Kinsley Avenue where evidence was recovered. 

The 15-year-old suffered life threatening gunshot wounds and was transported to a local hospital by a relative.
