Richmond Police Department Community Walk

WHEN:                      5:30 p.m. Today, November 14, 2017

WHERE:
                    2500 Afton Avenue – Gene’s Market

BACKGROUND:     Chief Alfred Durham
will lead his Command Staff and other RPD the officers on a walk at 5:00 p.m. today, November 1, through the Bellemeade neighborhood. During the walk, officers will speak with community members about safety concerns they may have and what they would like to see from the Richmond Police Department.

Sector 213 Lieutenant Robert Marland said so far this year the neighborhood is down in the grand total of major crimes. However, he said the area has seen an increase in burglary of commercial properties and theft from motor vehicles.

The Bellemeade Neighborhood is a long standing and well established neighborhood,” said Lt. Marland.  “One of the core elements of tackling issues is citizen involvement in identifying and addressing public safety concerns. I cannot thank the citizens of Bellemeade enough for their work with my officers in addressing crimes in their neighborhood.”

This event is the latest in a series of walks conducted by the Richmond Police Department in neighborhoods throughout the city.

Members of the media are encouraged to attend.
