Richmond Police
detectives need the public’s help to identify the individual who is suspected
of a robbery that occurred yesterday inside of a Northside convenience store.
At approximately
7:13 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28, police were called to a convenience store in the
1400 block of Chamberlayne Avenue for a report of a robbery. Police were told
the suspect walked into the business and browsed several items in the store. He
then approached the cashier and placed candy on the counter and proceeded to
pay with a $1 bill.
When the cashier
opened the cash drawer, the suspect sprayed him with pepper spray. The suspect
then reached into the open cash drawer and took money – including the $1 bill
he used in during the initial transaction. He fled the scene running northbound
on High Street toward Fritz Street.
The suspect is
described as a black male with a brown eyes and a short, dark facial hair. He
is approximately 20 to 30 years old, 5’8” to 5’10” tall, and 140 to 160 pounds.
At the time he was wearing a burgundy coat, dark jeans, white and black tennis
shoes and a black skull cap.
