The Richmond Police Department’s Crash Team investigators
have identified the person killed in a vehicle-pedestrian collision yesterday
evening in the Manchester neighborhood as Edward F. Brown, 50, 600 block of
Effingham Drive.
At approximately 9:21 p.m. yesterday, a vehicle was
traveling in the left lane heading north on Cowardin Avenue approaching the
intersection of Bainbridge Street. Brown was crossing Cowardin Avenue,
not at a crosswalk, westbound toward the center median when he was struck by
the vehicle.
Brown was transported to a local hospital where he was
pronounced dead.
Crash Team investigators responded to the scene, where they
interviewed the driver and witnesses and took measurements. No charges are
expected at this time. The investigation is still on-going.
