Victim Identified in Single Vehicle Traffic Fatality

The Richmond Police Department’s Crash Team investigators have identified the person killed in a single vehicle fatality yesterday evening in the city’s south side as Sergio Jimenez-Hernandez, 42, of the 4400 block of Fluvanna Avenue.


At approximately 11:10 p.m., yesterday, a 2004 GMC Yukon was traveling east in the 3400 block of Walmsley Boulevard at a high rate of speed. The driver, Jiminez-Hernandez lost control of the vehicle and ran off the right side of the road into a drainage ditch striking a culvert. The GMC Yukon then rolled and struck a utility pole where it came to rest. Jiminez-Hernandez was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators with the Crash Team interviewed witnesses and took measurements. The crash remains under investigation.
