The Richmond Police Department has made a second arrest in
connection with a May 9 homicide at the Midlothian Village Apartments.
Kyreek R. Carter, 19, of the 1000 block of St. Paul
Street, was arrested Wednesday evening and charged with conspiracy to
commit murder. His booking photo is attached.
On May 27, Larry M. Scott, 31, of the 5600 block of
Petosky Avenue was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task
Force in the 5600 block of Petosky Avenue without incident. He has been charged
with conspiracy to commit murder. His photo is attached.
At approximately 11:13 a.m., Monday, May 9, officers were
called to the 4000 block of Midlothian Turnpike for a report of a double
shooting. They arrived to find two adult males outside of the apartment complex
each suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Both victims, one of whom had life-threatening injuries,
were transported to a local hospital. Rashawn A. Brathwaite, 23, of the 2300
block of Whitcomb Street, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital later
that day.
The second victim was treated for non-life-threatening
injuries and released. Detectives believe the motive of the shooting was
robbery.
