Richmond Police detectives need the public’s help to identify the suspect who stole items from a southside Metro PCS store on two occasions earlier this month.

Shortly after 9 p.m. on June 19 and again around 2:30 a.m. on June 22, officers were called to the Metro PCS store located at 616 Hull Street for reports of break-ins at the business. On both dates, officers arrived to find a glass front door smashed and items taken.

Search Continues for Missing Man

The Richmond Police Department is asking for the public’s help to locate Lander S. Freeman, who has been missing since early June and is believed to be endangered. His photo is attached.

“It has been three weeks since Mr. Freeman was last seen,” said Major Crimes Detective William Thompson. “We are hopeful that someone who has seen him or has information about where he might be will contact us so we can bring him home safely and reunite him with his family.”

Freeman, 73, was last seen on June 6 in the 1500 block of Silver Avenue after leaving his home to walk to Kings Market. His walking stick was found on the porch of a friend’s home in the 1400 block of Silver Avenue.

He is described as a black male, 6’1” tall, with a medium complexion, weighing approximately 200 pounds. He has an injury to one eye. He was last seen wearing an “Obama” coat with fur around the hood, green pants and a black fedora-type hat.

Ford Avenue Homicide

The Richmond Police Department has identified the victim in last night’s fatal shooting that occurred on Ford Avenue as James M. Williams, 37, of the 1900 block of Raven Street.

At approximately 6:54 p.m., officers were called to the 2200 block of Ford Avenue for a report of shots fired. Officers arrived and found a male on a sidewalk who was suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he died.

The Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death.

Detectives believe several individuals in the area may have witnessed the incident and can provide valuable information.

Victim Identified in Train Fatality

The Richmond Police Department has identified the victim who was struck by a train on Tuesday, June 21.

At approximately 8:30 p.m. Tuesday evening, officers were called to the area of the 2400 block of Magnolia Court for a report of a male struck by an eastbound CSX freight train. Albert Reid, 50, of the 3200 block of Reid Taylor Road, Sherrils Ford, North Carolina, was pronounced dead at the scene, which was between Magnolia Court and Valley Road. A train employee reported Reid had been walking on the tracks when he was struck.

The Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death.

Major Crimes detectives are conducting the death investigation.

The Richmond Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating Larry O. Brown Jr.

Brown, 62, was last seen Monday in the 100 block of North Jefferson Street. He is known to frequent the VCU and Downtown areas. He suffers from several health conditions and may appear confused.

He is described as a black male with gray hair and brown eyes, 5’9” tall, weighing about 178 pounds.  He was most recently seen wearing blue jeans, a blue and white short-sleeve shirt and brown fedora-style hat.

East Hill Street Death Investigation

The Richmond Police Department is investigating an incident on East Hill Street this morning which resulted in two people shot, one fatally.

At approximately 3:35 a.m., officers were called to the 100 block of East Hill Street for a report of trouble unknown. Officers arrived and found James Grant III, 35, of the 2500 block of Lynhaven Avenue, in the rear yard of a residence who was suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he died.

The Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death. At this time, police are categorizing this as a death investigation.

As officers were investigating, they found a female inside a residence in the same 100 block of East Hill Street who had suffered a gunshot wound to her arm. She was transported to a local hospital with an injury which was not considered life threatening.

Suspects Sought in Forest Hill Vandalism

Richmond Police detectives need the public’s help to identify the suspects in the photo who vandalized several vehicles in the Forest Hill neighborhood this week.

In the early morning hours of Wednesday, June 22, 10 vehicles and a front door to a home were damaged by spray paint on West 43^rd and West 46^th streets.

Two males and a female can be seen in the video walking in the street and approaching a vehicle. The male in the rear of the group appears to be holding a can of spray paint.

Suspect Sought in Sam Market Robbery

Richmond Police detectives need the public’s help to identify the suspect who robbed an east end convenience store this week.

At approximately 9:58 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21, officers responded to a reported commercial robbery at the Sam Market, located at 1800 N. 30^th St. The store employee stated the suspect entered the store, selected a can of beer from the refrigerated case, walked to the counter, displayed a silver handgun and demanded money from the cash register. The suspect then left the store and was last seen running towards Nine Mile Road.

The suspect is described as a black male who is approximately 5’8” tall and weighs approximately 150 pounds. He wore a white t-shirt, khaki trousers and sneakers at the time of the incident. He has a goatee and braided hair.

Arrest Made in Somerset Glen Hoicide

A Richmond man was arrested yesterday in connection with a homicide that occurred in mid-May at the Somerset Glen apartment complex.

Tracy D. Stover, 26, of the 400 block of Westover Hills Boulevard, was taken into custody without incident by the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force. He is charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

At approximately 8:05 p.m. on May 15, RPD officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Westover Hills Boulevard for a call of a person shot. The victim, Hasheen E. Slaughter, 25, of the 8100 block of Provincetown Drive, Chesterfield, was found unresponsive in the breezeway of the apartment complex with apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Arrest Made in North 18th Street Shooting

A Chesterfield County man has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies in connection with a shooting that took place last month in Shockoe Bottom.

Kieran M. Nyangaresi, 22, of the 1000 block of Westwood Village Way in Chesterfield County, is charged with attempted murder, felonious assault and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He was taken into custody yesterday afternoon by the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force. His booking photo is attached.

At approximately 11:40 p.m. on May 30, officers responded to the 200 block of North 18^th Street in reference to shots fired. Within minutes they located the victim, who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives believe the shooting stemmed from an argument.

Arrest Made in Chamberlayne Avenue Shooting

A Richmond man has been arrested related to an aggravated assault shooting that occurred in the Ginter Park neighborhood in early June.

Shaqwan M. Ward, 23, of the 1600 block of Brookfield Street, was arrested last Saturday and charged with aggravated malicious wounding, robbery, breaking and entering with a weapon and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. “Officers working with our Fugitives and Firearms Initiative to take illegally-possessed guns and wanted persons off the streets spotted Mr. Ward on Saturday along Old Brook Road and took him into custody without incident,” said Major Crimes Lt. Jason Hudson.

At approximately 1:28 a.m. on June 1, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 3500 block of Chamberlayne Avenue. They quickly located an adult male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Suspect Sought In Metro PCS Robbery

Richmond Police Detectives are asking for the public’s help to identify the man in the photos who is a suspect an armed robbery of a Metro PCS store on Jefferson Davis Highway.

Around 5:30 p.m. on June 14, officers responded to a report of a robbery at the Metro PCS store, located at 3414 Jefferson Davis Highway. Moments earlier, the suspect entered the business, displayed a handgun and demanded the money from the clerk. He stole cash then left the store and fled in an older model, two-door Pontiac Sunfire, either gold or silver in color.

The suspect is described as a 6’4” - 6’5” tall, black male with a dark complexion, age 30 - 40, with a patchy beard and goatee. He wore black windbreaker pants, a gray and green sweatshirt, dark shoes and a single glove on his right hand.

On the morning of June 2, officers responded to the 200 block of East 37^th Street in reference to a break-in. Neighbors reported seeing the suspect entered the home through a rear window. A television was taken from the residence before the suspect fled the area on a BMX bike.

Victim Identified in East 15th Street Homicide

The Richmond Police Department has identified the victim of this morning’s homicide in the Oak Grove neighborhood.

At approximately 10:54 a.m., officers responded to the 1000 block of East 15^th St Street for the report of a person down. Upon arrival, they quickly located the body of Ronald C. McWilliams Jr, 23, of the 1000 block of East 15^th Street, in a back yard.

Detectives are investigating the death as a homicide. The Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death following an autopsy.

Second Arrest Made in Midlothian Village Homicide

The Richmond Police Department has made a second arrest in connection with a May 9 homicide at the Midlothian Village Apartments.

Kyreek R. Carter, 19, of the 1000 block of St. Paul Street, was arrested Wednesday evening and charged with conspiracy to commit murder. His booking photo is attached.

On May 27, Larry M. Scott, 31, of the 5600 block of Petosky Avenue was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force in the 5600 block of Petosky Avenue without incident. He has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder. His photo is attached.

At approximately 11:13 a.m., Monday, May 9, officers were called to the 4000 block of Midlothian Turnpike for a report of a double shooting. They arrived to find two adult males outside of the apartment complex each suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Both victims, one of whom had life-threatening injuries, were transported to a local hospital. Rashawn A. Brathwaite, 23, of the 2300 block of Whitcomb Street, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital later that day.

The second victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released. Detectives believe the motive of the shooting was robbery.

Suspect Sought in Golden Food Market Shooting

The Richmond Police Department is asking for the public’s help to identify the man who is a suspect in a shooting that occurred in late May at the Golden Food Market.

At approximately 10:19 p.m. on May 28, officers were alerted to a person shot near Chippenham Parkway, where an ambulance was flagged down by a vehicle. The passenger of the car, who is an adult male, was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Investigation revealed the shooting took place outside the Golden Food Market, located at 2701 Jefferson Davis Highway.

The suspect is described as a black male with a dark complexion, 5’5”- 5’8” tall, weighing between 145 and 155 pounds.

Community Walk in Fairmount and Peter Paul Neighborhoods

BACKGROUND:     Chief Alfred Durham will lead his Command Staff on a walk at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14 through the Fairmount and Peter Paul neighborhoods. During the walk, officers will speak with community members about safety concerns they may have and what they would like to see from the Richmond Police Department.

“During the first few months of 2016, these neighborhoods have experienced      a 33 percent increase in property crime,” said Sector 113 Lieutenant Michael Alston.

Lt. Alston said the Fairmount and Peter Paul areas have had specific issues with thefts from motor vehicles, thefts from buildings, motor vehicle theft, shoplifting and prostitution. He explained the thefts from vehicles and buildings often stem from people leaving valuables in plain sight or not securing their cars or sheds. He noted spare keys in vehicles or cars left running have led to motor vehicle thefts in the area.

“We’re asking citizens who see suspicious activity in the area, such as an unfamiliar person or vehicle standing for a long period of time, to report it,” Lt. Alston said. “Take note of as many details as you safely can, then call the police.”

This event is the latest in a series of walks conducted by the Richmond Police Department in neighborhoods throughout the city.

Richmond Police Detectives are asking for the public’s help to locate Eric L. Bambacus, who has been missing since February. His photo is attached.

“We have reached out to every resource we have to this point,” said Major Crimes Detective William Thompson. “Now, we are looking for assistance from the public to generate some new leads that will help us find Mr. Bambacus and bring him home safely.”

Bambacus, 55, was last seen on February 10, 2016 in the 3200 block of Chamberlayne Avenue. He has been known to wander the city as well as Henrico and Chesterfield counties, staying in abandoned buildings.

He is described as a white male, 5’8” tall, with brown hair and brown eyes, weighing approximately 190 pounds.

Dean, 52, was last seen on December 18, 2015 leaving Richmond Community Hospital. Known to be a drifter, he frequents Rudd’s Trailer Park in the 2900 block of Jefferson Davis Highway and areas in Richmond’s east end.

Dean is believed to endangered.

He is described as a white male, 5’6” tall, with blue eyes and brown hair, weighing approximately 175 pounds. He has scars on his right cheek and a tattoo of the name “Brenda” on his right arm.

Arrests Made in North 8th Street Homicide

Three men have been arrested in connection with the April homicide of Herbert L.  Brown Jr, 32, of the 6200 block of Claypoint Road in Chesterfield County. The trio turned themselves into police earlier today.

William H. Lee II, 31, of the 5500 block of Spoke Court in Chesterfield County, is charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle causing a death and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Malcolm A. Gordon, 30, of the 100 block of Wilson Street in Portsmouth, and Corey L. Boston, 32, of the 1400 block of Talley Circle in Portsmouth, are charged with accessory after the fact. Booking photos of all three men are attached.

At approximately 2:44 a.m. on April 10, officers were called to the 200 block of North 8^th Street after receiving a report from a bystander that shots had been fired in the area. Brown was found in the driver’s seat of vehicle parked beside the curb. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
