East Hill Street Death Investigation

The Richmond Police Department is investigating an incident on East Hill Street this morning which resulted in two people shot, one fatally.

At approximately 3:35 a.m., officers were called to the 100 block of East Hill Street for a report of trouble unknown. Officers arrived and found James Grant III, 35, of the 2500 block of Lynhaven Avenue, in the rear yard of a residence who was suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he died.

The Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death. At this time, police are categorizing this as a death investigation.

As officers were investigating, they found a female inside a residence in the same 100 block of East Hill Street who had suffered a gunshot wound to her arm. She was transported to a local hospital with an injury which was not considered life threatening.
